About
I make soft sculpture installations in public places…
I am influenced by Pop Art, nature, light prisms, nostalgia, and the metaphysical. I knit, crochet, weave, macrame, latch hook, punch needle and create pom poms whenever humanly possible.
I am a seeker of everyday magic. I use my creativity to cast a spell and transcend mundane, everyday spaces into whimsical, unforgettable ones; that is why I often choose to exhibit in nontraditional places. I purposely challenge the idea of what art is supposed to be through my use of unorthodox materials to the physical places my installations inhabit. The street, chainlink fences, public libraries and parks have all become my gallery walls. The majority of my work purposely speaks to the democratization of art.
My work has been described as whimsical, tongue-in-cheek, and playful; I wholeheartedly embrace those terms but there is a deeper layer to my creations. I believe in art’s ability to transform the mundane into otherworldly experiences.
